National Dance Day Utah
National Dance Day Utah

A grass roots organization established July, 2010 to support dance and fitness in Utah. It is not directly affiliated with the television program "So You Think You Can Dance" but supports the purpose and principles behind the Dizzy Feet Foundation (http://dizzyfeetfoundation.org). National Dance Day Utah is the brainchild of Janene Jaynes, a Zumba and fitness instructor who teaches various classes through Utah County. A go-getter from the start, she began a Facebook campaign with fellow instructors and then began involving dance studios. With technical support from her mother, Shirley W. Hopkins (aka yourscriptdoctor http://www.yourscriptdoctor.com) an ad hoc committee was formed. The organization is currently applying for non-profit tax exempt 501(c)(3) charitable organization status. For auditing purposes all funds received for National Dance Day Utah are deposited to an account with Central Bank in Springville, Utah.

This website (nationaldancedayutah.org) will remain up for the year July 2010-2011 with the intent of continuing to post news about National Dance Day and major dance events in Utah. To post information about your event, visit the Contact page of the website. With the success of this year's event, it is expected that the movement and the organization will continue to grow to become another yearly venue that sets Utah apart as a center for the arts.
